Jane Burnell (soprano)

Jane Burnell has a place at Leeds College of Music in September 2018, to study a Music (Classical) BA Hons degree, specialising in singing. She is a member of Leeds Baroque Choir and the Mabgate Ensemble and held a choral scholarship at Leeds Minster from 2016-17. Alongside a love of singing choral music, Jane enjoys a growing solo career. Recent performances include Haydn Paukenmesse (Wakefield Festival Chorus), Vivaldi Gloria (Stowmarket Chorale), and Brahms Requiem (Eye Bach Choir).
In 2015 Jane was invited to join the prestigious London-based Rodolfus Choir, of which she is still an active member. She regularly travels to London for concerts and sessions of which recent involvements include solos for Mozart’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah, and a recording for SKY TV for the Six Nations 2018.
Jane studies under Austin Gunn (tenor), and has since started to explore operatic repertoire, particularly the roles of Gilda (Rigoletto) and Despina (Cosi Fan Tutte). Jane’s recent operatic roles include the Second Woman and Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with LUU Opera Society, and Aljosa Skorja.
