Sophie Cameron (violin)
Sophie Cameron studied at the Royal Northern College of Music for both undergraduate and Masters. Whilst studying she was a recipient of the Roger Raphael prize, and winner of the Schubert Prize and Barbirolli Chamber Award, and she graduated from her Masters with Distinction.
As a chamber musician Sophie has performed throughout the country at venues including the Wigmore Hall and the Purcell Room. She has collaborated with artists including the Medici Quartet and as part of the Gildas Quartet was both a Tunnell Trust recipient and Park Lane Group Young Artist.
Sophie was sub-principal 2nd violin in the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra for two years and is now a member of the 2nd violin section in the Philharmonia. She has enjoyed freelancing for orchestras throughout the country including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, where she has guested as Principal Second Violin.
As soloist she has performed concertos with the RNCM symphony Orchestra in the Royal Haden Freeman Hall on both modern and Baroque violin. She has also appeared as a soloist with Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra and Airedale Symphony Orchestra.
Sophie is a regular member of the English Arts Orchestra or Ensemble, and has recently performed the Samuel Barber String Quartet Op. 11 in EAC concerts in Reigate and St John's College Chapel, Cambridge.
