Florence Pettet (alto)
Florence Pettet is a Mezzo-soprano studying for a Bachelor in Voice at the Leipzig Conservatory in Germany, under the tutelage of Carola Guber. Born in Reigate, she received violin and piano lessons as a child and studied voice and piano at the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music, before going on to study Music and German at Bristol University. While at university, Florence sung the roles of Dido in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Iolanthe in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe with the university operatic society. She is an alumna of Genesis Sixteen 2015-16, as well as the Schola Training Programme with the Berlin Radio Choir in 2017. Florence regularly performs in oratorio in Leipzig, and in concerts across Germany with the Baroque Ensemble 1684. Oratorio engagements in the UK and Germany have included Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, various Bach Cantatas, Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, Rachmaninov’s Vespers & Mendelssohn’s The First Walpurgis Night. Forthcoming engagements include Bach’s St. John Passion and Handel’s Messiah.
