World Première

Stabat Mater by Paul Carr

In a programme rich with the perfect choral writing of Elgar and Lauridsen, we proudly present a newly commissioned setting of the ancient religious poem known in Latin as the Stabat Mater. Paul Carr is a composer well-known to The English Arts Chorale after his earlier commission The Lamb became a favourite with the singers.

The Lark Ascending

Violinist Savitri Grier

Enjoy Britain's favourite piece of classical music - The Lark Ascending - in a concert packed with memorable items performed by The English Arts Chorale and its outstanding professional orchestra. The gifted and delightful Savitri Grier returns to Reigate to play Vaughan William's miniature masterpiece.

Organ Transplant

Pipes & Tubes

Crispian Steele-Perkins and organist Ian Le Grice join The English Arts Chorale to celebrate the restoration of the mighty Norman & Beard pipe organ in St. Mary's Church, which was originally installed in 1911.

Ian will showcase the organ in Bach's Toccata & Fugue in D minor and Widor's Toccata in F, and Crispian will dazzle with Jeremiah Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary. Crispian will also entertain us with his unique illustrated talk on what makes a trumpet speak.

War Requiem

Benjamin Britten's War Requiem

The English Arts Chorale and Brian Kay's Burford Singers, with the choristers of Bristol Cathedral, combine to give two performances of Britten's War Requiem, marking the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
