Membership of the choir is by a simple audition with Leslie Olive, Artistic Director, and the relevant section leader. You will be asked to prepare a short piece from a major choral work. There will be some sight reading as well up to your level.

Our current audition piece is: ‘His Yoke is Easy’ from Handel’s Messiah.

Singing reviews are held every 2 years, or sooner, depending on the discretion of the Artistic Director.

Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings at Wray Common Primary School, Kendal Close, Reigate RH2 0LR from 7.44pm until 10.00pm. There is plenty of parking available.

We rehearse in a bright, cheerful room, with plenty of space for singing in the round, which we especially enjoy. There are side rooms for sections to practise separately when needed, and a large grassed area directly outside, handy for coffee break when the weather is fine.

Members may occasionally be invited to attend earlier to collect music or to attend sectionals.

Rehearsals are enjoyable and fun! There are opportunities to improve vocal technique as well as learning music by heart.

Members are encouraged to attend as many rehearsals as possible, as each member’s contribution really matters to every other member.

We know that sometimes situations arise which can affect attendance. Please tell the relevant section leader and Artistic Director if you cannot come along to a rehearsal.

EAC has a busy and exciting performing schedule which includes at least one major concert per term plus other events including singing days and workshop. Full details of the season programme are on our website.

We hope that by joining EAC you will want to sing in every concert, and will make that extra effort to do so.

The season brochure is planned well in advance to help you plan your diary. You are asked to advise the section leader and Artistic Director if you are not going to be able to sing in a particular event.

There is an additional cost of music hire, which is in the region of £15 per annum. Many members choose to purchase their own copies, either themselves or via our librarian.

Music Folders are owned by the EAC and are provided free for all concerts.

EAC performs regularly on home ground in Reigate, as well as Cathedrals and major concert venues in London.

There are opportunities for touring with the EAC. Recent tours have been to Roujon in France, and there is a plan for a tour to Siena, in Italy in 2018.

The annual subscription is currently £240 per annum for those aged over 30 years.

Subscription for the under 30s is £60.

The cost for students in full time education is £15 per annum.

EAC offers a generous bursary scheme for aspiring young singers. See website for more details.

The English Arts Chorale Association is a registered charity, with an enthusiastic committee which meets regularly and oversees the running of the organisation.

Every member of EAC is encouraged to contribute in some way to the success of the Chorale, and every offer of help is appreciated and valued.
