English Arts Chorale

Alistair Shelton-Smith (baritone)

Alistair Shelton-Smith

Alistair is singing the baritone role in Gerald Finzi's In Terra Pax in the EAC's concert in St Mary's Reigate on December 2nd, 2017

Alistair Shelton-Smith studied at the Royal College of Music in London, at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe, and at the Dutch National Opera Academy in Amsterdam where he graduated with distinction in 2008.

Alistair enjoys varied engagements across Europe and further overseas, with a particular focus on Contemporary and 20th Century Opera. He is a leading exponent of Eddy, the ill-fated protagonist in Mark-Anthony Turnage’s first opera, Greek, and has sung the role to critical acclaim in both English and German in several venues in the UK and on the Continent. He has also undertaken key rôles in a number of 20th Century operas including Der Fischer in Blacher’s Die Flut at the Grachten Festival, Amsterdam, and the title role in Britten’s Owen Wingrave. Alistair is also a recitalist and later this month will be performing a selection of Schubert’s Scottish songs in Amsterdam.

Alistair is particularly pleased to be singing tonight as he was a chorister at Reigate St Mary’s Choir School from 1985-1989. This church was where it all began!
